Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially greenlit a sequel to the phenomenal 2023 action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy – the year's top-selling game.
Hogwarts Legacy Sequel: A Top Priority for Warner Bros. Discovery
A sequel is anticipated within the next few years. Warner Bros. Discovery CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, confirmed this during the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, as reported by Variety. Wiedenfels emphasized the sequel's significance, stating, "A successor to Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly a top priority for us in the coming years. We expect substantial growth from our games business, and this sequel will be a major contributor."
Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously highlighted the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success, telling Variety earlier this year, "Many players have revisited the game multiple times." Haddad expressed pride not only in the impressive sales figures and replayability but also in the game's ability to bring the Harry Potter universe to life in a unique and engaging way for gamers. He noted that this resonated deeply with the community, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically occupied by established franchise sequels. He added, "We're incredibly proud to have broken into the top ranks."
The game's stunning visuals were also a major highlight, delivering a truly immersive Harry Potter experience for fans.
