Inspired by the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Tides of Annihilation casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman fighting alongside spectral knights to save her family and mend a shattered world. The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Hordes of enemies swarm the streets, forcing Gwendolyn and her team into desperate battles. The game's main antagonists are colossal, roaming knights, demanding intense, acrobatic combat as players scale these behemoths to engage them directly.
While visually stunning, Tides of Annihilation unfortunately lacks a unique narrative hook. The recent trend of Souls-like games reimagining classic stories has yielded fresh perspectives—Journey to the West's Western obscurity and Lies of P's twisted take on Pinocchio stand out. However, the Arthurian legend, while rich, feels over-saturated, leaving Tides of Annihilation, despite its visual appeal, without a compellingly original story to set it apart.
