Talystro: Math Meets RPG in New Roguelike Deckbuilder

If you've been keeping up with us for a while, you'll know that our parent company hosts an event called Pocket Gamer Connects. One of the highlights we organize is the Big Indie Pitch, where innovative indie games are showcased to a panel of judges. Today, we're excited to delve into one of the top runners-up that caught our eye: the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!

At first glance, Talystro might seem like just another deckbuilding roguelike—a genre that's incredibly popular right now. However, a closer look reveals why it stood out. By mixing cards and dice mechanics, you take on the role of the math mouse, battling numerical monsters in your quest to overthrow the evil Necrodicer.

So, how does it work? Essentially, you combine dice and cards to reach a target number, which is used to eliminate monsters based on the number they represent. But be cautious—you only have a limited number of dice to use each turn.

ytCrypt of the NecrodicerTalystro boasts a unique blend of rubber hose-style animation and fantasy aesthetics, reminiscent of those math-focused educational games you might have played as a kid. While it won't challenge you with complex math, the gameplay remains enthralling and easy to grasp at a glance.

Talystro is slated for release in March, and I believe its simple-to-understand yet hard-to-master gameplay (a balance many deckbuilders struggle to achieve) will be what truly captivates players upon its launch!
