The explanation? Criterion Games, the studio behind Need for Speed, is currently fully committed to developing the next Battlefield game. Zampella emphasized that this new Battlefield title is EA's top priority, with development involving four studios and a strong focus on incorporating player feedback to avoid repeating the mistakes of the poorly-received Battlefield 2042. This player-centric approach extends to future Need for Speed content as well.
It's highly probable that EA will shift its attention back to Need for Speed only after the launch and initial post-release support for the new Battlefield game concludes.
