In a recent FAQ, Saber Interactive clarified several key aspects of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, launching September 9th. Crucially, they confirmed the absence of any DRM, including Denuvo.
DRM, while intended to combat piracy, has a controversial history in gaming, often cited for potential performance issues. Past examples, such as Capcom's Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, highlighted compatibility problems (including with Steam Deck) and limitations on modding.
While DRM is absent, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat on PC. Easy Anti-Cheat itself has faced scrutiny, notably within the Apex Legends community following a hacking incident at the ALGS 2024 tournament in March.
The developers also addressed the lack of planned official mod support, which may be a letdown for some. However, the game offers a compelling array of features to compensate, including PvP arena and horde modes, plus a comprehensive photo mode.
