Pokémon GO consistently delivers engaging monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on this week's event:

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

This Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM (local time), Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb take center stage. Prepare for a double dose of Shiny hunting! Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, especially when extra damage is crucial.

With two Pokémon featured, maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. Remember to clear space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode with 50 candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. As an Electric-type, it's weak against Ground-type attacks (160% damage) but resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (5.81 DPS, 40.62 TDO), boosted in Rainy weather. A blue Shiny variant exists.

Hisuian Voltorb (#100), also from Kanto and transferable to Pokémon Home, shares Voltorb's evolution line and catch rewards. Its stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack) mirror Voltorb's. While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water types (63% damage) and other Electric types (39% damage). The best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO), enhanced in Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather. Its Shiny form features a black body instead of orange.
