Pokémon NPCs: Unending Harassment in Hilarious Gameplay Video

A Pokémon player's popularity has reached a new, somewhat annoying, level. A short video shows them trapped, unable to move, as two NPCs relentlessly flood their phone with calls.

The classic Game Boy Pokémon games, like Gold and Silver, introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls can range from friendly updates to battle requests. However, this player's experience is far from typical.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder posted a video showing them cornered in a Pokémon Center. The video begins with a call from Wade the Bug Catcher, detailing his Caterpie training and a recent Pidgey encounter. Before the player can react, Youngster Joey calls, requesting a rematch on Route 30.

The relentless ringing continues. Joey's call repeats, immediately followed by another from Wade, seemingly with the same message. This cycle persists, creating an inescapable loop of repetitive calls.

The reason for this unusual glitch is unclear. While Youngster Joey and his calls are known for being repetitive, this level of persistent calling is extraordinary. FodderWadder suspects a save file corruption. Other players found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs simply enjoy chatting.

Although players can delete phone numbers in the original games, calls answer automatically. FodderWadder eventually escaped the incessant calls, but the process proved difficult, requiring them to find a brief window between calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and finally leave the Pokémon Center. The experience, however, has left them hesitant to register new numbers, fearing a repeat of the endless call loop.
