Nintendo's first post-Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Treehouse livestream has been inundated with user comments demanding that the company "DROP THE PRICE." The YouTube chat during the stream reflects widespread frustration over the pricing strategy for the next-generation console, with the Nintendo Switch 2 priced at $449.99 and the much-discussed Mario Kart World game set at a controversial $79.99.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself will retail for $449.99, a bundle option is also available that includes Mario Kart World for $499.99, effectively saving $30 on the game's price.

The pricing isn't limited to Mario Kart World; other Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, are also priced at $79.99. Additionally, Nintendo has faced criticism for charging for the Switch 2 tutorial game, Welcome Tour, which many fans believe should be included for free, much like Astro's Playroom is with every PlayStation 5 console, serving as a complimentary tech demo for the DualSense controller.
The Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with the following:
- Nintendo Switch 2 console
- Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R)
- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
- USB-C Charging Cable
The outcry over Nintendo's pricing decisions has now extended to the Treehouse livestream, where the presenters have chosen to overlook the flood of complaints in the chat. It appears that Nintendo may continue to face backlash from the gaming community, which is increasingly pressuring the company to reconsider its pricing strategy.
