Marvel Rivals Console Beta Registration Now Open

Gamers looking forward to trying out Marvel Rivals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can now sign up for the upcoming closed beta test, which will be held in late July going into early August. Developer NetEase Games already gave PC players a small preview of Marvel Rivals in a closed alpha test back in May, allowing a select few to sample the game’s pulse-pounding 6-v-6 multiplayer matchups and a fraction of its character roster of classic Marvel superheroes and villains.

During last month’s PlayStation State of Play May 2024 livestream, it was revealed that Marvel Rivals would host a closed beta test in July – this time for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in addition to Steam. This upcoming beta will include new content that wasn’t present in the previous closed alpha test, such as new playable characters Adam Warlock and Venom and a new Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands map. PS5 owners who participate will also get an exclusive Scarlet Spider costume for Spider-Man once the game eventually launches in full.

In the meantime, players can now sign up for the upcoming Marvel Rivals closed beta test by either filling out the brief questionnaire posted here if they wish to play on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S or simply wishlist the game on Steam if they want to participate on PC. Once they do so, the players who fill out the questionnaire will receive an email should they be selected for the beta, which will begin on July 23 at 6 PM Eastern Time (or 3 PM Pacific) and end on August 5 at 3 AM ET (or 12 AM PT).

Steam users will instead get the chance to request access to the Marvel Rivals closed beta on July 20, and they will be “promptly notified” if they are selected for the test. Regardless of which platform players choose, the Marvel Rivals beta will be open to players in North America, Europe, and Asia, and a major focus will be on cross-play support with other versions of Marvel Rivals.

The number of players that will participate in the Marvel Rivals closed beta hasn't been revealed, so those who want to play on consoles would be advised to fill out and submit the included questionnaire as quickly as possible to secure their place in the test. Marvel Rivals already looks like a promising take on the hero-shooter genre popularized by the likes of Overwatch 2, and July’s beta test will help improve the game further – especially when it comes to cross-play between different consoles and PC.
