Warhorse Studios Confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Will Be DRM-Free
Contrary to circulating rumors, Warhorse Studios has definitively stated that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) will launch without any Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, including Denuvo. This confirmation comes directly from Warhorse Studios PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, who addressed player concerns during a recent Twitch stream. He explicitly stated that the game will not employ any DRM system whatsoever, clarifying previous miscommunications and misinformation that had spread online. Stolz-Zwilling urged players to cease inquiries about DRM integration, emphasizing that any information contradicting this official statement is inaccurate.
The absence of DRM is likely welcome news to many gamers. DRM, especially Denuvo, has been frequently criticized for potential performance issues and negative impacts on gameplay. While Denuvo's developers argue that much of the negative perception stems from misinformation and confirmation bias, the controversy surrounding its use remains.
KCD2, set in medieval Bohemia, follows the story of Henry, a blacksmith's apprentice whose village faces devastation. The game is scheduled for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy. This DRM-free release should ensure a smoother launch and a more enjoyable experience for players.
