Introducing Battledom: Alpha Test Kicks Off for Turn-Based Strategy Game

by Sadie Jan 23,2025

Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's initial vision for Herodom.

Battledom offers dynamic RTS combat, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations are also a key element of gameplay.

Players will use in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, a key feature is the ability to customize units with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats like range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.

Players gather resources like wood, leather, and coal, then utilize blacksmiths, magicians, and other village crafters to create the necessary equipment.

Frenken's previous title, Herodom, enjoys a 4.6 App Store rating. This tower defense game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and farm animals.

Interested players can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight on their iOS devices. For the latest updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. His other games are available on the App Store.
