Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?

Recent speculation suggests Gotham Knights may be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

The resume, belonging to a former QLOC employee (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, it also features Gotham Knights, specifying development for two currently unreleased platforms.

While one platform could potentially be the original Nintendo Switch (given a past ESRB rating, since removed), performance issues on other consoles raise questions. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests the Nintendo Switch 2 as the more likely candidate.

It's crucial to remember that this is based on unconfirmed information. Neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo have made any official announcements. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only highly anticipated unreleased console, the speculation is compelling.

Past Switch Speculation and ESRB Rating

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights briefly received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a port and potential appearance in a Nintendo Direct. This rating has since been removed. While a Switch release never materialized, the past ESRB listing, combined with the recent YouTube report, adds weight to the Switch 2 possibility.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backward Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 7, 2024, Twitter announcement promised further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," meaning an official announcement is imminent (Nintendo's fiscal year ends in March 2025). A subsequent tweet confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. However, the use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
