Final Fantasy XVI's director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested that fans avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Plea for Responsible Modding
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshida-P addressed the upcoming PC release of Final Fantasy XVI, emphasizing a desire for respectful modding practices. While acknowledging the creativity of the modding community, he specifically cautioned against the creation and use of mods deemed "offensive or inappropriate." He declined to provide specific examples, stating that naming certain types of mods could be misinterpreted as encouragement.
Yoshida-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposed him to a range of mods, some falling outside the bounds of acceptable content. While many mods enhance the game visually or add cosmetic elements (like the popular Half-Life costume mod for FFXV), others contain NSFW material. Although he didn't explicitly mention NSFW mods, they clearly fall under his definition of "offensive or inappropriate." Examples include mods that replace character models with nude meshes and high-resolution textures.
With the PC version boasting features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling technologies, Yoshida-P's request aims to maintain a respectful and enjoyable experience for all players.
