Dragon Quest XII remains under development, with information to be revealed gradually, according to series creator Yuji Horii.
During a recent livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the Square Enix development team is diligently working on Dragon Quest XII. This marks the first update since May 2024, following the passing of key figures Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama. Lead producer Yu Miyake also departed his role around that time to head Square Enix's mobile game division.
Prior to this update, fan concerns regarding potential cancellation arose due to Square Enix restructuring and the absence of news. However, Horii's statement reassures fans that the project is ongoing.
Square Enix recently reported that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake surpassed sales projections, achieving 2 million units sold.
