Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: A Rollercoaster of New Content and Controversy
Cookie Run: Kingdom's highly anticipated Version 5.6 update, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," is a mixed bag of new additions and community backlash. While boasting new Cookies, episodes, events, and treasures, the introduction of a new rarity level, Ancient+, has sparked significant controversy.
The Good:
-
Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie: This Ancient+ Cookie, a Charge type frontline fighter, brings a powerful Awakened King skill with devastating attacks and a CRIT Resist debuff. He even teams up with Twin Dragons for enhanced attacks. A special Nether-Gacha increases the odds of obtaining him.
-
Peach Blossom Cookie: A new Epic Support Cookie that heals allies and provides DMG and Debuff Resist buffs.
-
New World Exploration Episode: Dark Cacao Cookie's story continues in "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," featuring Yin and Yang battle stages.
The Bad and the Ugly:
The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, with a maximum 6-star promotion level, has angered many players. This addition, the eleventh rarity level in the game, is viewed as a cynical move to introduce stronger cookies as separate entities instead of enhancing existing ones. This led to threats of boycotts from the Korean community and whale guilds.
In response to the negative feedback, the developers have postponed the update, originally scheduled for June 20th, to reconsider the Ancient+ rarity system. The official announcement can be found on their Twitter feed.
The future of Version 5.6 remains uncertain pending developer reconsideration. Stay tuned for further updates. Meanwhile, check out our other news, including Hearthstone's upcoming July update, "Perils in Paradise."
