Mobile game updates usually improve performance or compatibility. However, Capcom's recent update for Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil Village on iOS and iPadOS introduces an unwelcome change: mandatory online DRM. The games now require an internet connection to verify your purchase before launching. This means no more offline play.

Prior to this update, all three games functioned perfectly offline. Now, a verification prompt appears on startup; refusing the check closes the game. While this might not bother everyone, the forced online DRM is a significant drawback for previously purchased titles. It's frustrating that Capcom implemented this check on every launch, rather than a less intrusive method. This makes recommending Capcom's premium mobile ports considerably more difficult.
