Antarah: The Game takes you into the world of Arabian folklore, out now on iOS

by Sebastian Jan 05,2025

Antarah: The Game, a new 3D action-adventure title based on Arabian folklore, offers a thrilling portrayal of the legendary hero. While adapting historical figures into video games is notoriously challenging (think Dante's Inferno), Antarah: The Game shows promise.

But who is Antarah? Formally known as Antarah ibn Shaddad al-Absias, he's often compared to King Arthur, a poet-knight celebrated in pre-Islamic folklore for his trials to win his beloved, Abla. The gameplay, reminiscent of Prince of Persia, features the hero traversing vast deserts and cities, battling numerous enemies. Despite relatively minimalist graphics, the scale is impressive for a mobile game, though not as detailed as Genshin Impact.

A Broad Scope, Limited Depth?

While visually impressive (especially considering it seems to be a solo project), Antarah: The Game appears to lack variety. Trailers primarily showcase an expansive, albeit monochromatic orange desert. While the animation is polished, the narrative remains largely unclear, a crucial element for historical dramas.

Whether Antarah: The Game successfully immerses players in the world of pre-Islamic Arabian folklore remains to be seen. Download it on iOS and decide for yourself. For more open-world adventures, explore our top 15 best adventure games for Android and iOS.
