AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Research

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The annual winter marathon featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many more across various gaming genres.

AGDQ, a flagship event of the Games Done Quick (GDQ) organization, is one of two major annual marathons, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also regularly hosts smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Noteworthy is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick event, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, kicked off with a speedrun of Pikmin (Switch version) by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. This collaboration between GDQ and PCF has resulted in over $26 million raised across numerous GDQ events.

A standout moment was a unique and highly successful Crazy Taxi speedrun. Speedrunner Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing the game's music, completed the 18-minute run, generating over $24,000 in donations. This innovative approach cleverly navigated the challenges of copyrighted music typically associated with streaming the game.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, featuring a nail-biting finish between runners Eddie and Andy. The next GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will benefit Doctors Without Borders and take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, starting July 6th.
