This augmented reality (AR) app brings the Magic Thousand Character Comics to life. Experience 3D Chinese character magic by simply pointing your device at the book and cards.
Recommended Specifications:
- AR-capable device: Samsung Galaxy S8 or newer models are recommended. AR functionality requires a high-specification device; performance may vary on other models.
- Storage: Ensure sufficient storage space and minimal pre-installed apps for optimal performance. Installation may fail if storage is insufficient.
Enhanced Features (Volume 54 and beyond):
The Magong app (the official Magic Thousand Character app) transforms your reading experience. Beyond the 3D magic, Volume 54 introduces:
- Leader Rating System: Level up your leader through promotion training and engage in battles.
- Promotion Training: Collect cards and boost your leader's level by completing training based on vocabulary from the book.
- Card Collection: Collect three types of character cards and 20 vocabulary cards per book. View collected cards in the encyclopedia; touching a card triggers an animation.
- Reinforcement System: Strengthen character cards using magic stones.
- Boss Battles: Battle bosses from the comics with your collected characters to earn rewards based on your contribution.
AR Functionality:
AR effects are available on:
- Revised Edition (Volume 54+): Book cover, 20 pages of the book, and the front of 20 character cards.
- Revised Edition (Volumes 1-53): Book cover, 20 pages (look for a red AR mark), and the front of 20 character cards.
- Old Edition (Volumes 1-44): Book cover and 20 pages (no AR mark).
- Children's Edition (Volumes 1-10): 212 enclosed cards.
Important Notes:
- An internet connection is required for the Chinese character magic feature.
- Share your AR experiences with friends via photos and videos. Access news, YouTube, and webtoons directly within the app.
Troubleshooting:
- Image Recognition Issues: If the app doesn't recognize a book or card, tap the yellow "+" button to retry. Ensure the image is clearly visible and well-lit, avoiding reflections. Not all pages are AR-enabled; check the compatibility list above.
- App Crashes or Slow Performance: Intensive AR use may cause overheating. Close the app and restart it. Older smartphones may experience slower performance. The initial app launch might take some time to load image recognition capabilities.
- Chinese Character Writing: Enable "Skip from the second Chinese character writing" in settings to avoid repeated input (this does not apply to pages with multiple characters).
- Animation and Video Issues: Slow internet speeds may interrupt animations and videos. Use a stable Wi-Fi connection. For low video recording sound, increase your device's speaker volume during recording. Video recordings are limited to 30 seconds, or when the AR model changes.
- Photo/Video Storage: Photos and videos may not immediately appear in your gallery; restart your device if necessary.
- Permissions: The app requires camera, microphone, and storage access to function correctly.
